Enhancing the flavor of coffee with various additives has become a common practice. Physiologist Irina Lyulina shared which fruits and spices not only diversify the drink but also have a positive impact on health.
One of the popular additions to coffee lately has been lemon, notes Irina Lyulina. This drink is especially beneficial for people suffering from vascular diseases and hypotension. Those with low blood pressure often experience malaise, while hypertensives may not notice an increase in pressure.
“Lemon juice is rich in ascorbic acid, which is known for its ability to improve the elasticity of blood vessel walls and their tone. Many who frequently suffer from migraines related to low pressure report an improvement in their condition after a cup of natural coffee with lemon,” says Irina Lyulina.
Cardamom can also be added to coffee. Its components help prevent intestinal spasms and blood thickening, as well as promote better metabolism and digestion.
Cloves, which have a mild analgesic effect, ginger, and cinnamon pair well with coffee. The latter two are rich in antioxidants that enhance brain function and reduce inflammatory processes. Additionally, Irina Lyulina recommends adding turmeric or vanilla to coffee.
The doctor advises drinking a glass of water after each serving of the beverage. This will help prevent partial dehydration, which inevitably occurs when consuming coffee.
