Dietitian and certified nutrition coach Catherine Gervasio asserts that fatty foods are essential in the diet for those who want to lose excess weight.

 

For many years, it was believed that to successfully lose weight, one should avoid all fats and restrict calorie intake. However, recent studies have demonstrated the significance of high-fat foods in the diet. Catherine Gervasio highlighted the most beneficial of these, assuring that their consumption can significantly aid in the fight against excess weight.

Cheese

“It is a wonderful source of protein that provides long-lasting satiety. This is due to the fact that the process of digesting it takes a long time. Protein also supplies amino acids and important nutrients such as calcium, vitamin B12, and phosphorus, which are necessary for maintaining overall health,” noted Dr. Gervasio.

Yogurt

The dietitian recommends choosing full-fat yogurt without added sugars and flavorings. This product is rich in probiotics, calcium, and protein, making it an excellent snack, especially when combined with fruits or muesli, as reported by ETNT.

Eggs

Catherine Gervasio is confident that eggs should take a leading place in the diet of those aiming for weight loss. They are high in protein, low in calories, and help to stave off hunger for a long time, which is especially beneficial when following a diet.

Nuts and seeds

“These foods have an excellent balance of essential nutrients, fiber, and healthy fats. They are perfect for snacking, providing an energy boost and a lasting feeling of fullness,” shares Catherine Gervasio's opinion.

Dark chocolate

This refers to chocolate containing at least 70% cocoa beans, the specialist clarifies. It helps to cope with sweet cravings, and the caffeine and theobromine it contains promote gentle stimulation of metabolism.

Fatty fish

According to the expert, the fatty acids found in fish such as salmon or mackerel can prevent fat accumulation by influencing the genes and enzymes involved in metabolism.

Olive oil

The monounsaturated fats and antioxidants in olive oil, which have anti-inflammatory properties, are considered the foundation of the Mediterranean diet. This makes the product heart-healthy and important in the weight loss process.

Avocado
