Salad with Imitation Crab Sticks and Fried Mushrooms: An Original and Delicious Recipe

If the traditional salad with imitation crab sticks no longer interests you, try its version with fried mushrooms. Mushrooms are perfect due to their neutral flavor, which harmonizes with boiled eggs and imitation crab sticks. In this recipe, we will do without rice and corn, but a fresh cucumber will add the necessary freshness to the dish.

 

Choose high-quality imitation crab sticks, as their taste affects the overall impression of the salad. Preparing this dish won't take much time; the main thing is to wait for the mushrooms to cool down. All ingredients should be at room temperature; otherwise, the salad may spoil quickly.

INGREDIENTS

eggs – 3 pcs.
imitation crab sticks – 250 g
small fresh cucumbers – 2 pcs.
mushrooms – 150 g
vegetable oil – 20 ml
mayonnaise – 70 g
hard cheese – 100 g
onion – 1 pc.
salt to taste
black ground pepper to taste

STEP-BY-STEP RECIPE

Step 1

Start by preparing the eggs for the salad with imitation crab sticks and fried mushrooms. Cover them with water and bring to a boil. You can add a little salt to prevent the shells from cracking. Boil the eggs for about 7-10 minutes, then cool them in cold water.

Step 2

Peel the onion and chop it finely. Rinse the mushrooms, clean them from dirt, and dry them thoroughly, then slice them thinly.

Step 3

In a frying pan, heat the vegetable oil and add the onion. Sauté it until translucent, then add the mushrooms and fry, stirring, until all the liquid evaporates, which will take about 15 minutes.

Step 4

Rinse the cucumbers and dry them, then cut them into strips. Remove the film from the imitation crab sticks and also cut them into thin strips. Grate the hard cheese on a coarse grater. Cool the boiled eggs and cut them into cubes.

Step 5

In a salad bowl, combine all the ingredients: imitation crab sticks, cucumbers, mushrooms with onions, cheese, and eggs. Dress with mayonnaise, season to taste with salt and black ground pepper, then mix thoroughly.

Step 6

As an alternative way to serve the salad, you can layer all the ingredients. For this, place a serving ring on a plate and start layering. The first layer is eggs mixed with mayonnaise, then fried mushrooms with onions, cucumbers, imitation crab sticks. A layer of mayonnaise. The last layer is grated cheese, which can also be spread with mayonnaise on top. Refrigerate for 2 hours, then remove the ring and serve.

Note for the Hostess

If you decide to make a layered version of the salad with imitation crab sticks and fried mushrooms, you can use pickled or salted cucumbers instead of fresh ones.

Mushrooms contain a lot of moisture, so they can be fried without adding vegetable oil. They won't burn thanks to the evaporation of their own juice, but it's important to stir them often. Before adding the mushrooms to the salad with imitation crab sticks, cool them to room temperature.
