During the flu epidemic and the spread of other acute diseases, the Latvian Digital Health Center reminds of the possibility to purchase medications with an electronic prescription issued to another person, writes LETA.
To buy medications with an electronic prescription issued, for example, for a relative or neighbor, it is necessary to present the ID number of the electronic prescription at the pharmacy. This number is available to the doctor and the patient in the e-health system, so it is recommended to print it out or save it as an image on the phone. In addition to the ID number of the electronic prescription, it is necessary to provide the patient's first and last name, as well as present one's own identification document, so that the pharmacist can mark the recipient of the medications in the system.
The pharmacy does not require the patient’s personal code or identification document to be presented, emphasizes the Latvian Digital Health Center.
At the same time, a resident can delegate the right to purchase medications with electronic prescriptions to another person on the e-health system portal eveseliba.gov.lv. In this case, medications with the electronic prescription can be purchased by both the patient themselves and the person to whom this right has been delegated, by simply presenting their identification document at the pharmacy and stating the patient's first and last name.
To grant someone "delegation of rights" to access medical data, including issued electronic prescriptions, one must log in to the e-health system portal. In the "Delegation of Rights" (Tiesību deleģējumi) section, one needs to click on the menu item "Add New Delegation" (Pievienot jaunu deleģējumu) and fill in the necessary information about the person who will be granted the right to view and use electronic prescriptions.
