Dietitian T. Meshcheryakova explained how to properly arrange a festive table and avoid overeating.
First of all, it is necessary to reduce the number of dishes. It is advisable to exclude new dishes and exotic products that may provoke allergies or food intolerances.
Also, according to the expert, the table should have fruit assortments, canapés, and cold cuts. This is a great opportunity to try various dishes in small portions.
In addition, the specialist recommended choosing lighter options for dishes. Complex combinations with many components overload the digestive system, especially at night. It is preferable to prepare dishes with 2–4 ingredients. The dietitian advised focusing on light vegetable salads.
Hot dishes are better cooked by steaming or baking. Fried and smoked foods should be excluded.
The dietitian also recommended limiting the consumption of foods that provoke overeating. This primarily refers to products with seasonings, flavor enhancers, and various flavorings.
The main dessert should be enjoyed on January 1. This is a wonderful reason to continue the celebration without harming the digestive system.
It is also important not to ignore the main meals before the holiday. Throughout December 31, one should eat fully, and dinner should preferably be at 6–8 PM, the expert concluded.
