Noodle soup is loved by both children and adults. It cooks quickly and is very filling, but it doesn't always turn out balanced.
Professional chefs, experts from the Tasting Table portal, believe that there are pastas that are more suitable for the "first course" than traditional egg noodles.
What is ditalini pasta
Ditalini is a small Italian pasta in the shape of short tubes, named after the word ditale, meaning "thimble" in Italian.
According to chefs, ditalini fits perfectly on a spoon and does not tend to "fall off" while you are eating. Additionally, this pasta does not collect scalding broth inside, as shells and other hollow types of pasta do.
The tubes are of uniform size and always cook evenly, and they do not overpower the texture of other ingredients.
What soups can you add pasta to
Ditalini, like other small pasta, can be added to:
chicken broth or soup; soup with legumes; vegetable broth; soup with meatballs.
How to cook ditalini
Ditalini should be boiled separately, rather than added to the soup dry. This way, the broth will not become overly starchy and will remain clear. After boiling in pre-salted water, the pasta is added to the other ingredients just before serving. In a couple of hours in the pot, the pasta will swell and turn into a mush.
