Dietitian Daria PUSHKAREVA warns that consuming unripe persimmons, like other unripe fruits, is undesirable.
Unripe persimmons have a binding effect and can, in some cases, lead to intestinal obstruction, pain, and constipation.
Unripe fruits are contraindicated for elderly people and patients with chronic digestive system diseases. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are at risk. Children under two years old are advised against consuming this fruit even in its ripe form.
Persimmons can be ripened at home. The simplest way is to leave it in a warm place for a few days. Freezing persimmons is also possible. After thawing, it will not be sticky but will become less sweet and juicy.
