The new Minister of the Interior of Latvia, Janis Dombrava, reported on two riots by refugees at the 'Mucenieki' center.

"In the past week, there have been disturbances twice at the refugee accommodation center in Mucenieki. To prevent further escalation of conflicts among the residents, specialized units of the State Police had to be involved," said Janis Dombrava.

"It is evident that the management of the center in Mucenieki does not control what is happening in the facility. Next week, an investigation will be initiated to determine responsibility for the systematic violations in the center's operations," the minister promised.

Additionally, Janis Dombrava reported that work has begun on issuing orders for the expulsion of migrants.

"I expect that by next week, the leadership of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs will be able to demonstrate sufficient progress in returning illegal migrants who misled the authorities to obtain asylum seeker status," the minister sternly promised.
