Employees of the Ministry of the Interior responsible for civil defense will be sent to work in border municipalities, announced the newly appointed Minister of the Interior Janis Dombrova (National Alliance).

The minister works even on Saturdays. At least he writes messages on Facebook. Employees of the ministry responsible for civil defense will be sent on long-term assignments to border municipalities, said Janis Dombrova.

Why send Riga officers to the East? To not only familiarize themselves with the situation on the ground but also to practically address civil security issues – together with responsible services and municipalities, the minister explained.

It is worth noting that a strange situation has developed recently – first, drones fall somewhere in Latvia, and then local residents receive warnings about air danger. Although, in theory, it should be the other way around.

Janis Dombrova intends to ensure that warnings about air danger are triggered in a timely manner, and that people clearly understand where to take shelter from an attack.

Dombrova also stated that civil defense will now be a priority for his team. He called for the development of border patrol capabilities – with the help of modern detection and drone interception systems. Thus, supporting the national armed forces deployed at the border.

As reported by bb.lv, Latvia's Minister of the Interior Janis Dombrova (National Alliance) issued his first order on his first working day. A few hours later, he clarified it.
