Elizaveta Yakuninskikh has passed away in Saint Petersburg after being in a coma for almost nine months following a tragic incident with an apple.
The tragedy occurred in August of last year.
Elizaveta, who worked as a veterinarian, came to Saint Petersburg for advanced training courses. During a banquet celebrating the completion of her studies, she choked on a piece of apple that blocked her airways. As a result, the girl stopped breathing and her heart ceased to function, leading to clinical death.
It is reported that Elizaveta's brain was without oxygen for about 28 minutes. After the incident, she fell into a coma from which she was unable to emerge.
Throughout the months, the girl's family and loved ones hoped for a miracle, which unfortunately did not happen.
