Explosives from a downed drone have been neutralized in Utena County, the police reported on Monday.
As reported by BNS, the representative of the Utena County police, Asta Šuminienė, the explosives were neutralized by 16:00.
"The 'Shield' plan is not canceled. Experts, sappers, police forces, and other services are working at the scene," authorities said.
As previously reported by BNS, employees of the anti-terrorism unit Aras confirmed the presence of explosives at the site of the drone's fall.
It was decided to neutralize the explosives on-site, as transporting them posed a threat to the population.
According to the police, security in the area has been strengthened, and traffic has been closed on the section of the road from Sudyjkiai to Bikushkis.
Local residents reported the downed drone in the village of Samane to the authorities on Sunday shortly after 19:00. It was previously assumed that it did not carry explosives.
Authorities believe that this is a Ukrainian drone.
The information collected by the agencies and further actions will be discussed on Wednesday by the National Security Commission led by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.
After a meeting on Monday between the president and Defense Minister Robertas Šulcas, the president's advisor Deividas Matulionis stated that the early warning system for drones is currently not functioning properly and requires more attention and funding.
