In Riga, in Kengarags, a trolleybus driver crashed into a concrete pole on Prusu Street.
The cause of the accident may have been health issues, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).
A concrete lighting pole smashed the windscreen of the trolleybus. Considering that the vehicle was on route at the time, it is likely that trolleybus No. 15 had just left the stop on Bultu Street, but after traveling only a few meters, it crashed into the pole.
"The causes of the incident are being investigated, and at the same time, the damage caused to the trolleybus is being assessed. At the moment, the version is that the driver's health may have suddenly deteriorated. No passengers were injured in the accident," said Rīgas satiksme representative Baiba Bartashevicha-Feldmane.
Another Rīgas satiksme driver also heard that the female trolleybus driver had a sudden health issue, which caused her to lose control of the vehicle.
After the collision, several trolleybuses on this route were temporarily unable to continue transporting passengers.
