An Audi car collided head-on with a truck. As a result of the accident, the driver of the passenger car — a 43-year-old man — died, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).

After the severe collision between the truck and the Audi, the road was completely closed for several hours.

Parts of the passenger car were scattered across the highway, and it was already difficult to understand that the pile of metal once represented a whole car. The cabin of the truck was also significantly damaged, which is unusual for a collision with a passenger car.

Traffic safety expert from CSDD, Oskars Irbitis, points out that what was seen at the accident site indicates a huge speed violation on the part of the passenger car driver. After the collision, the car completely fell apart.

An investigation into the circumstances of the tragic accident is currently underway; however, one version suggests that the Audi driver made the decision to drive into the oncoming lane deliberately.
