Shocking Accident in Bulgaria: Bus with Ukrainians Overturned, Two Dead and 16 Injured

A terrible accident occurred in Bulgaria near the Turkish border: a bus full of citizens of Ukraine was involved in a crash, claiming the lives of two people and leaving 16 injured.

A terrible tragedy unfolded in Bulgaria: a bus carrying citizens of Ukraine was involved in a serious accident, claiming the lives of two people and leaving at least 16 injured. This shocking crash occurred on the Burgas – Malko Tarnovo road, very close to the checkpoint leading to Turkey.

According to the publication "Dnes Bulgaria", the accident site featured a complex terrain and sharp turns, which could have exacerbated the situation. Preliminary information from Novinite indicates that the bus, which had 37 passengers and two drivers – all citizens of Ukraine – stopped due to a lack of fuel.

At that moment, the passengers left the cabin and gathered behind the bus, but suddenly the vehicle began to move backward on its own. Authorities confirmed that the bus ran over the people standing behind it before finally stopping in a ditch.

Footage from the scene of the tragedy shows a horrifying picture: the bus overturned right into a ravine. According to "Dnes Bulgaria", at the time of the collision, there were 29 passengers inside the bus, and investigators clarified: "the vehicle stalled after running out of fuel. The passengers exited the bus, but shortly after, it suddenly moved and ran over the people standing behind it."

The consequences of this horrific incident were tragic: two passengers died at the scene, and another 16 were injured, some of them quite seriously. Rescuers promptly transported six of the injured to hospitals in Burgas, while the remaining ten were sent to the emergency center in Malko Tarnovo.

The other passengers, who did not sustain serious injuries, were temporarily accommodated in a special center in the border town, where they received all necessary medical and humanitarian assistance. Local officials confirmed that the bus was heading to Turkey, transporting citizens of Ukraine, among whom were refugees living in Burgas.

The bus driver was immediately detained by the regional police department in Malko Tarnovo. An investigation into all circumstances of this tragic incident is actively ongoing.

It is worth noting that in mid-April, a traffic accident also occurred in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship of Poland involving a minibus carrying citizens of Ukraine. As a result of that accident, six people were injured.
