Currently, the State Police has conducted about 30 search operations for Leon Rusinsh in the forest and riverbed, similar checks are planned in the near future, the LETA agency found out from the State Police.
The police confirmed that both versions are still being considered - the version that Rusinsh has died and the version that he is alive.
"Search operations regarding the Rusinsh case have not been suspended. During this time, significant work has been done to establish his whereabouts. International cooperation is also underway, including checking information about his possible presence abroad, which has not yet been confirmed," the police emphasized.
Given that the investigation is ongoing, the police are currently not providing more detailed comments.
It was previously reported that on April 16, 2023, a woman born in 1983 was killed in the Jekabpils region in front of her child and mother. The murder was committed by her ex-husband Rusinsh, who had threatened and stalked her for several months. The woman regularly reported this to the police, but they were unable to protect her. A total of 19 criminal proceedings were initiated against Rusinsh, 18 of which were for failing to comply with a protection order against violence.
