The State Police has completed the investigation of the criminal case against a man suspected of committing crimes against ten individuals, primarily underage girls, over a period of six years, reports the portal "tv3.lv" citing the State Police.
Law enforcement authorities are urging the prosecutor's office to bring this individual to criminal responsibility for the rape of a person under 16 years of age, involving a minor in prostitution and inciting a meeting for sexual acts, participating in the production of pornographic materials, involving minors in prostitution and exploiting minors in prostitution, pimping in relation to minors and adults, as well as possession of child pornography, reports the portal tv3.lv.
On September 10 of last year, a criminal case was initiated by the State Police based on a report that a man had offered prostitution to a 15-year-old girl during a conversation on the WhatsApp messenger. During the investigation, law enforcement officers identified the man and arrested him on October 27, 2025. He was born in 1989 and had no prior convictions.
Upon examining the contents of data carriers seized from the detainee, it was established that other individuals had also been harmed by his illegal activities. On October 29, the suspect was taken into custody.
The investigation revealed that the man was meeting minors online, engaging in sexual conversations with them, during which he persuaded them to meet for sexual contact, requested them to photograph and film their naked bodies and send him videos both for payment and for free, as well as coaxed underage girls (15-16 years old) into prostitution by organizing meetings with clients.
The man offered prostitution to both minors and girls who had just reached adulthood, promising to find and direct clients to them, demanding a percentage of the earnings after services were rendered. The man himself also availed himself of the sexual services of two underage girls (13 and 15 years old) for payment. In one instance, the suspect, using force, raped a 15-year-old girl. In total, during the criminal proceedings, information was obtained about eight minors and two adult victims, whose ages at the time of the crime ranged from 13 to 18 years.
Furthermore, it was established that the suspect had stored 37 files containing child pornography on his data carrier.
Considering the circumstances proven during the criminal proceedings, the police proposed to hold the man born in 1989 criminally liable for 20 criminal offenses, including three particularly serious, 16 serious, and one less serious.
On April 10 of this year, employees of the 3rd department of the 1st administration of the criminal police of the Riga regional administration of the state police forwarded the criminal case to the prosecutor's office for prosecution, and the suspect remains in preventive detention.
