On Sunday in Riga, in Kengarags, a 14-year-old teenager became a victim of violence.
Two young men with a bottle of vodka in hand wandered around the parking lot of the "Akropole" shopping center until they found a suitable victim on whom to unleash their unprovoked aggression. For the victim, the incident ended with a visit to the hospital, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).
The victim's mother, Anastasia, says it hurts to see her son's suffering, but she is equally saddened by the indifference of those around after the incident on Latgales Street near the "Akropole" shopping center. Her son was brutally attacked and seriously beaten. It all started near entrance "C" of the shopping center, where the two teenagers began the physical assault.
"They kicked him from behind, then, when my son fell, they shook him and held him. He doesn’t know these teenagers. Then he called me, he ran away from there. He was so scared. Everyone saw it, but no one reacted," Anastasia recounts.
Doctors at the Children's Hospital, after examinations, recorded a cut eyebrow, swollen eye, damaged lip, and bruised back.
"He had a CT scan and an X-ray. Everything is fine there, but his face is broken and looks terrible. Morally, it is very hard for him. He is a child. I could never have imagined that someone could attack from behind like that," Anastasia says.
According to the mother, her son likely became a victim of unprovoked aggression — the attackers did not steal anything from him. Most likely, both were in a state of strong intoxication.
The attackers can be briefly described — one was slender, the other of stocky build. It is possible that Anastasia's son is not their only victim. At her request, the store reviewed the surveillance footage, and it turned out that these teenagers had previously come to the attention of the security.
"The security officer said this is not the first time. He sees them, but can’t do anything — a report needs to be filed with the police, and then they can act."
If you can help identify the attackers or were a witness to the incident, Anastasia asks you to email her at franka18@inbox.lv or report to the police at 110. The day before, she and her son filed a report about the attack at the police station.
