Reinis Znotiņš Appointed Head of Criminal Police

As of today, Colonel Reinis Znotiņš has been appointed as the Deputy Head of the State Police and Head of the Main Department of Criminal Police, having previously held the positions of Deputy Head of the Main Department of Criminal Police and Head of the Investigation Support Department, the State Police reported.

As noted by the Chief of the State Police, Armands Ruks, Znotiņš is a top-level professional who has honed his skills in the field of criminal police for over 25 years, establishing himself both in Latvia and internationally.

Znotiņš began his service in the police in 1998 while he was a student at the Latvian Police Academy, and after graduating, he worked as an inspector in the criminal police at the 30th precinct of the Riga Police Department.

Since 2005, Znotiņš has held various positions in the Main Department of Criminal Police - in the Organized Crime Control Department, the Criminal Investigations Department, and the Investigation Support Department.

From 2018 until now, Znotiņš has served as the Deputy Head of the Main Department of Criminal Police and the Head of the Investigation Support Department. He is also a member of the board of Europol.

For over 12 years, the position of Head of Criminal Police was held by General Andrei Grishin, who will assume the position of Head of the Tax and Customs Police on January 1, 2026.
