Troubles of a Bulgarian Driver: Heavy Metal Spilled from a Truck on the Highway

On Tuesday afternoon on the Bauska highway, near Katrinmuiža, traffic was organized in one lane — there, a Bulgarian truck driver encountered trouble while transporting heavy metal structures that spilled onto the roadway.

Two trucks traveling in opposite directions stopped on the side of the Bauska highway. The asphalt between them was damaged by metal parts that are often used in heavy machinery cranes, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).

The driver of the white truck from Bulgaria stated that he was heading to Finland, but the trip was interrupted as he lost his cargo. The man noted with relief that the driver of the oncoming vehicle was unharmed.

"My colleague had a tire blowout, so he veered into my lane. I turned the steering wheel the other way to avoid a collision because it would have been a fatal hit," said Ilya, who was transporting metal structures.

The straps securing the metal cargo could not withstand the inertia caused by the sudden maneuver, and they spilled onto the asphalt one by one through the side wall.

Considering the heavy traffic on the A7 highway, it was fortunate that no other vehicle was behind the truck at that moment, which could have been hit by these objects.

At the scene, law enforcement officers were regulating traffic and documenting the circumstances of the accident.
