Last week, there were multiple reports of a BMW theft in the vicinity of Sigulda. Over the weekend, the car completed its route in the forests of Vangaži — there, in quite an unusual position and camouflaged by natural "decorations," the thief left it.
Surrounded by tree branches and abandoned in the dense forest of Vangaži — this is the condition in which the missing BMW of Elvis was found by a local hunter, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).
He shared the discovery in a WhatsApp group, then called the number 112, and soon the owner himself learned that the car had been found — now Elvis can breathe a sigh of relief.
Just like during the police chase last week, the perpetrator did not hesitate to leave his strange "signatures" when abandoning the vehicle.
"They were pulling up fir trees right from the roots and stacking them. They were trying to disguise something very quickly — I don’t really understand. The plates were replaced, and the real plates called me yesterday — they were found about 15 kilometers away, in a ditch. A fire extinguisher was sprayed all over the car, apparently to hide fingerprints or something like that," Elvis said.
Elvis suspects that the man decided to leave the car in the forest because it became too dangerous to drive — it was too noticeable. Currently, the BMW is undergoing examination by the State Police, and perhaps law enforcement will find something in it that will help the investigation.
"I couldn’t even get close to the car, as far as we saw through the window — there was some phone in the door, but it’s not mine. Maybe they just planted some phone that might have fingerprints on it to confuse — that’s what I thought," Elvis said.
In any case, the story of the police chase and searches in several areas has come to an end, but the thief is still at large.
