The Latvian ambassador in Israel, Gints Serafinoch, advises Latvians stranded in the country not to attempt to leave by land, as it may be dangerous.
In a broadcast on Latvian television, the ambassador stated that it is possible to leave Israel by land through Egypt, and starting today, it will also be possible to leave the country through Jordan. Later, it is expected that ferry services will be organized with Cyprus.
The Latvian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dana Goldfinch, had previously also advised Latvians not to attempt to leave the UAE by land routes on their own, but instead to wait for the situation to be resolved on the ground.
Serafinoch reported that the embassy is aware of several dozen Latvians in Israel who have registered in the consular register or contacted the embassy.
Currently, the embassy is closed to visitors and is not providing a range of services, focusing instead on addressing security issues.
