A collision between a truck and an intercity passenger bus occurred on the Jelgava – Tukums road (P98) at the intersection with the Liepaja highway (A9), partially blocking traffic, reported the State Police.
At 18:53, the police received a call to the intersection of the Riga – Liepaja (A9) and Jelgava – Tukums (P98) roads. As noted by the police, medics were examining the participants of the accident at the scene.
The Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) reported to the agency that five medical teams were working at the accident site, including a specialist doctor.
Medics examined nine people, but they cannot comment on their health status yet. One lane on the Liepaja highway is closed, and the Jelgava – Tukums road is closed in the direction of Tukums, the police informed.
"Latvijas valsts ceļi" urges to detour the accident site via the Tukums – Auce – Lithuania border (Vitin) (P104) road or through Lestene.
