On Sunday, 106 traffic accidents were registered in Latvia, resulting in 12 people being injured, reports the State Police.
Most of the injured were in a traffic accident on the Kekava bypass road, where a collision involving nine vehicles required medical assistance for 16 victims, including six who were taken to hospitals.
Seven drivers were detained by the police on Sunday for driving under the influence of alcohol. Five of those detained were found to be heavily intoxicated and were therefore held criminally liable.
A total of 178 reports were filed yesterday for speeding, and two drivers were penalized for aggressive driving.
Overall, the police issued 444 reports for various traffic violations over the past 24 hours.
