Relatives could not recognize the victim by face.

A monstrous crime occurred in the city of Kyzyl, Republic of Tuva. According to the investigation, two young men fatally beat an unknown young man with skates. Members of the local hockey club are suspected of the murder. The relatives of the deceased fear that the young men may escape punishment.

22-year-old Bayyr Bilekpen was returning home after a walk with his classmates. It was late, almost three in the morning. But it was the weekend, after all; who at his age hasn’t stayed out until dawn?

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tuva, on Kechil-Oola Street, not far from his home, Bayyr encountered two strangers. They were young men, also walking around the area after skating. It is still unclear what exactly happened next. According to preliminary data, the young men asked Bayyr for a cigarette. He refused. And this decision became fatal for the young student.

A quarrel ensued, then a fight, during which the young men knocked Bayyr to the ground and began kicking him in the body, head, and face. With such wild brutality, it was as if they knew him and wanted to take revenge on the student for something.

Within a minute, skates with sharpened blades came into play. The attackers grabbed them by the laces and began to strike the young man on the head with all their might. The moment of the beating was captured on street surveillance cameras. The footage shows that the savages delivered almost 30 blows. Each one was so strong that nothing remained of the young man's face.

What happened next, the relatives do not know. Apparently, someone passing by or a resident of a nearby house called an ambulance. At that moment, Bayyr was still alive. He was quickly taken to the hospital and attempts were made to save him. But the student passed away right in the hands of the medics.

Searched for Two Days

Bayyr's family consists of six people: two parents, three daughters, and him — the only son.

"I am the youngest of the sisters, my brother is 12 years younger than me. So he was the most awaited and desired child in the family. A boy," said the deceased's sister, Emilia.

There were excellent relationships between the children and parents. Family members were close to each other, celebrated holidays together, and there were no scandals or quarrels among them. Relatives often called to check on how everyone was doing.

The day before the tragedy, around five in the evening, the father called his son to find out where he was. By that time, Bayyr had already gone out with friends. They spoke again around midnight — everything was fine with the young man. The family began to panic only in the morning when they learned that Bayyr had not returned home and had not been in contact since.

That same day, the relatives went to the police. They filed a report, began spreading information about the missing person, and contacted all his friends. But no one knew where he had disappeared. A little later, the family managed to find Bayyr's phone. It was with the janitor working in the yard where the tragedy occurred.

"When we arrived, he pulled out my son’s phone. He said that the mobile phone was expensive and that there were driver's licenses in the phone case. Therefore, he demanded a reward for the find. I told him I would transfer the money to his number. But he refused. Then I had to go to a store and withdraw 3,000 rubles from an ATM. That’s how I got my son’s phone. I have poor eyesight, and when I examined the smartphone, I didn’t notice anything strange. Only my youngest daughter pointed out that there was blood on it," said the father of the deceased, Mikhail Bilekpen, to the Tuva channel 108.

For two days, the relatives did not know where Bayyr was. He was searched for all over the city by close ones, classmates, friends, and college colleagues. Everyone hoped that the young man was okay. They thought someone was intimidating him, and he was just temporarily hiding. But hopes quickly shattered against reality when the parents received a sudden call. On the other end of the line was a police officer. He summoned the family to the morgue.

"We all went there together. With one thought, hoping it wasn’t him. We hoped that our son was with friends. When we entered the morgue, we were told to go to the identification room. The face was unrecognizable. But I have known my son since infancy, and I immediately recognized him by his build. The worker said we should look at his hands. There were his talisman and ring," explained Mikhail.

Couldn’t Hurt a Fly

It is impossible to imagine what the relatives experienced at that moment. Only insatiable pain and one question: why?

"In our family, we don’t even call adults by their names; we always address them as ugbay — sister, and aky — brother. And we referred to the little ones as dunmai, nim — younger brother or sister. We were very much looking forward to the birth of our brother; now we don’t know how to live without him," Emilia noted bitterly.

22-year-old Bayyr was a student at the medical institute and, as friends say, the life of the party. The guy was calm, kind, and sociable. He always treated girls with respect and couldn’t even raise his hand against guys; he never got into fights.

His main passion was volleyball. The entire room of the student was decorated with certificates, diplomas, and medals for outstanding achievements in this sport. In his school years, Bayyr was also interested in creativity. He participated in drawing competitions, performed on stage as a singer, and once even received the title of "Mini-Mister."

The family said goodbye to Bayyr a few days ago. He was buried in a black suit and hat, and red roses, a volleyball, a toy car, and other personal belongings that were dear to him were placed in his grave. No matter how hard the mortician tried to make the deceased look presentable, it was still noticeable that his face was covered with bruises and his jaw was shattered by the skate.

Want to Be Free

A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident under the article on murder committed by a group of individuals out of hooligan motives. Two young men, aged 19 and 22, residents of the Bay-Tayginsky district, have been detained on suspicion of committing the crime. Both are members of the local hockey club. Investigators claim that they were not previously acquainted with Bayyr. The court has sent them to pre-trial detention.

What exactly happened that evening is known only to the suspects. Whether it was caused by the refusal to give a cigarette or simply personal animosity will be revealed by the investigation. The family of the deceased suspects that the attackers were waiting for a specific person and simply mistook Bayyr for their target.

An unnamed source informed the relatives of the deceased that the suspects are trying to evade punishment, and now Bayyr's family fears that the young men will be released.

"In our family, it’s unheard of for someone to take revenge or say bad words. Our main goal is to ensure a complete investigation and a fair verdict," concluded Bayyr's sister.
