Today in Riga, a trolleybus on route 4, traveling from the Jugla neighborhood to Ziepniekkalns, caught fire on Tirzas street, eyewitnesses told LSM.lv.
Baiba Bartashevicha-Feldmane, a representative of the Rīgas satiksme company, confirmed the fact of the fire to LSM.lv.
"There was smoke and fire in the trolleybus's engine compartment. The driver noticed it in time and successfully extinguished the fire on his own. The passengers were not injured in this incident. More detailed information about the causes of the incident will follow after the trolleybus is delivered to the depot," said Bartashevicha-Feldmane.
According to information from Rīgas satiksme published on the social network X, trolleybuses on route 4 have been redirected along Brīvības gatve towards Ziepniekkalns for technical reasons. Trolleybuses on routes 31 and 34 have been redirected along Brīvības street towards the Central Market.
