On Saturday, at the border checkpoints Grebnevo and Terekhovo, two Russian citizens were denied entry to Latvia for security reasons, the State Border Guard informed the LETA agency.
No such cases were recorded on Sunday.
In the first 18 days of January, there were no attempts to illegally cross the border between Belarus and Latvia.
The government has extended the enhanced border security regime in the border areas with Belarus until June 30 of this year. This was implemented due to the increased flow of illegal migrants created by Belarus. The enhanced control regime is in effect in Ludza and its parishes, in Kraslava and the parishes of the region, in the Upper Daugava region, Daugavpils, and the Kaunatas parish of the Rezekne region.
