Expired Products Were Sold in Riga with Fake Documents

Employees of the Food and Veterinary Service (FVS) of Latvia removed expired meat products from sale. This occurred at the 'Mere' store located at 9a Liksnas Street in Riga, the service reported to bb.lv.

In addition, during the inspection, the Food and Veterinary Service (FVS) identified cases of falsification of expiration dates on food products.

The service reported that 64 kilograms of various meat products were removed from sale, including fried bacon, cold cuts, hot-smoked sausages, chilled pork shoulder, hot-smoked pork ham, and hot-smoked pork knuckle.

The FVS explained that the inspection was conducted based on a consumer complaint. Administrative proceedings have been initiated regarding the identified violations, the FVS informs.

Given the identified facts, the FVS will pay increased attention to the 'Mere' stores in the future.

The 'Mere' chain stores are owned by the Serbian-registered company 'SKTrade DOO Beograd', and the ultimate beneficiary is Russian citizen Sergey Schneider. The 'Mere' stores began operations in Latvia in March 2021.
