The Eastern Zemgale Prosecutor's Office has submitted a criminal case to the court against a man charged with attempted rape and murder of his cohabitant, reports LETA, citing the prosecutor's office.
A man has been charged with using violence against a person with whom he has a permanent intimate relationship and shares a household, causing her physical suffering, as well as attempted rape and murder of this woman.
The accused, while at home with the victim, with whom he lived in a shared household and had a permanent intimate relationship, began to argue with the woman after they had consumed alcohol together.
During the conflict, being in an aggressive mood, the accused insulted the victim and struck her with his fists on the head and other parts of her body.
Also, being in a state of intoxication and displaying aggression, in order to satisfy his sexual desire against the victim's will, using violence, he attempted to engage in sexual intercourse, but did not complete it as the woman resisted and kicked him away.
Suddenly overcome with rage and acting with the intent to kill, the man grabbed the woman lying on the bed by the neck with one hand and began to squeeze it, while pressing a pillow against her face with the other hand and, applying significant pressure, attempted to suffocate her.
The accused was unable to complete the crime as the phone rang, and he ceased his actions.
