An aggressively inclined bus passenger in Iecava, in the heat of an argument, decided to use a weapon, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3). The shot did not cause physical harm to any of the passengers; however, several people experienced severe emotional distress after the incident. Now the aggressor will have to answer for his actions before the law.
On Monday evening, a gunshot was heard at the Iecava bus station. It was fired by one of the passengers on a scheduled bus heading towards Bauska. Residents of the surrounding area, who were not even on the vehicle, also heard what happened.
One eyewitness reported that panic broke out in the area. People hurriedly left the scene without waiting for law enforcement to arrive.
Bus passengers noted that the conflict started because the man could not convince those around him of his correctness.
"A passenger of the scheduled bus was detained in Iecava, who, while in a state of intoxication, got into a conflict with other passengers and fired once from a gas pistol (with blank cartridges). As a result of the incident, no one was physically harmed," said State Police representative Ruta Strauhtniece.
The police have initiated a criminal process regarding the incident.
