In the last 24 hours, 13 calls were received for the elimination of the consequences of strong winds — ten of them were related to the removal of fallen trees, for example, from the roadway, while in three cases, the wind damaged the building's structural elements, the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPSS) reported to the LETA agency.
Most of the calls — nine — came from Riga and the Riga region, while in four other cases, rescue assistance was needed in Kurzeme.
As previously reported by LETA, from Saturday evening to Monday morning, the State Fire and Rescue Service (GPSS) received 341 calls related to the consequences of strong winds. In the Riga region, 138 calls were recorded, of which 92 were in Riga itself, 56 in Kurzeme, 27 in Zemgale, 21 in Vidzeme, and seven in Latgale.
On Monday, gusty winds continued to blow in Latvia.
