Investigators seized a knife that was likely used in the attack, known as a "finka."
Polish investigative authorities are working to identify individuals who posted false and hate-inciting comments online following the murder of 11-year-old Danusia from the city of Jelenia Góra. More than two and a half thousand messages appeared on the internet claiming that a Ukrainian woman was responsible for the girl's death.
The Lower Silesian police, with the support of officers from Kielce and Kraków, have already found two individuals connected to this case, reported Monika Kaleta from the police press service.
"Currently, appropriate actions are being taken against these individuals. During the operation, police officers searched one of the premises and seized a phone from which, presumably, recordings were published that may constitute a crime under Article 256 of the Penal Code. We warn that inciting hatred based on nationality, ethnic origin, race, religion, or lack of religious beliefs is a crime punishable by imprisonment for up to three years."
Investigators have requested the Jelenia Góra police to classify records that contained personal data and photographs of a 12-year-old girl suspected of committing the crime.
The body of the 11-year-old victim was found with wounds inflicted by a sharp object. Investigators seized a knife that was likely used in the attack, known as a "finka," which is a fixed-blade knife kept in a sheath.
"The identity of the minor, who is likely connected to the incident, has been established — it is a 12-year-old girl, a student at the same school as the 11-year-old. They were not classmates but knew each other by sight. The motives for the detained girl's actions are unknown," added Ewa Wenglarowicz-Makowska.
According to unofficial information from local residents, the park where the tragedy occurred is a popular meeting place for youth. It is believed that a quarrel occurred between the girls there, which ended tragically. The principal of the primary school, Paweł Domagała, noted at a crisis management meeting that the deceased was an exemplary student with diverse talents. She actively participated in sports competitions, contests, and charity events, showing high academic results.
According to the principal, the girl was cheerful, open, and well-liked by her peers. The parents of the schoolgirl are already receiving psychological support.
"We are all shocked by what happened. Our goal is to provide support primarily to the children, as well as to take care of the parents," Domagała said in an interview with RMF24.
