Over the past 24 hours, two people died in a fire in a residential building in the Rezekne region, the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) reported to the LETA agency, writes LETA.
On Friday at 4:53 AM, information was received about a fire in a residential building in the Rezekne region. Upon arrival at the scene, rescuers confirmed that the residential building was already engulfed in flames and its roof had collapsed.
Before the firefighters arrived, two people evacuated from the building, one of whom was injured in the fire. During the firefighting efforts, two deceased individuals were found in the residential building. Currently, firefighters continue their work at the scene.
Meanwhile, on Thursday at 8:48 AM, information was received about smoke coming from the windows of a five-story residential building on Rigas Street in Livani. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters established that an apartment on the fifth floor, covering an area of 40 square meters, was on fire, and a person was on the balcony.
Rescuers evacuated the person injured in the fire and handed them over to the medical staff of the Emergency Medical Service. Four people left the building on their own before the firefighters arrived. Work at the scene was completed at 11:41 AM.
Over the past 24 hours, the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) received a total of 43 calls — nine for fire extinguishing, 26 for rescue operations, and eight calls turned out to be false.
