Due to the killing of dogs that occurred in October of this year in the Brunava parish of the Bauska region, disciplinary actions have been applied to two municipal police officers, the LETA agency was informed by the municipality.
To clarify the factual circumstances of the case regarding the incident registered on October 10 and to assess the actions of the municipal police officials at the scene, a commission was established to conduct an internal investigation. Based on the commission's findings and the rules of disciplinary responsibility for officials in municipal police, three disciplinary cases were initiated.
When evaluating the actions of the police officials, it was established that in performing their duties, they did not fully comply with the requirements set forth in their job descriptions and the internal and external regulations governing the work of municipal police.
Currently, two disciplinary cases have been completed, and decisions have been made to impose disciplinary sanctions on two officials. The investigation for one disciplinary case has been suspended.
As reported, on October 10 of this year, the Bauska municipality police received a call regarding three aggressive stray dogs that were threatening the owner on private property in the Brunava parish of the Bauska region. The duty officer of the municipal police contacted the animal control service; however, a representative of the hunting collective arrived before the animal catchers and shot the dogs.
