Nick had previously spoken publicly about his long-standing drug addiction and periods of homelessness.

In their home in the Brentwood area of West Los Angeles, 78-year-old director and actor Rob Reiner and his 68-year-old wife Michelle Singer Reiner were found dead.

People magazine reports that their 32-year-old son Nick Reiner has been arrested on suspicion of murder. No charges have been filed against him yet.

Nick Reiner had previously spoken publicly about his long-standing drug addiction and periods of homelessness. His experience served as the basis for the semi-autobiographical film "Being Charlie," for which he worked on the script with his father.

A call for medical assistance was made around 3:30 PM local time, and upon arrival, the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered in the house. It was later confirmed that Rob and Michelle Reiner were the victims.

Police sources note that there were no signs of forced entry into the home.

Rob Reiner is one of the most famous Hollywood directors of the 1980s and 1990s, known for films such as "This Is Spinal Tap," "Stand by Me," "The Princess Bride," "When Harry Met Sally," "Misery," and "A Few Good Men," and is a two-time Emmy Award winner for his role as Mike "Meathead" Stivic in the series "All in the Family."

Reiner was born into a Jewish family. He grew up in New Rochelle, Westchester, New York. At the age of 13, he moved with his family to Los Angeles. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles.
