The Central District Court of Krasnoyarsk (Russia) has extended the detention of three-time world champion in luge Roman Repilov, who is accused under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud on a particularly large scale).
"The court has ruled to extend the detention of Repilov for two months and one day, until February 20, 2026, in the Federal State Institution Pre-Trial Detention Center 1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory," the press service of the courts of the Krasnoyarsk Territory of the Russian Federation stated.
Repilov and another luger, Alexander Peretyagin, were sent to the pre-trial detention center at the end of November. They are accused of embezzling about 11 million rubles from the budget (about 100,000 dollars), intended for the purchase of sports sleds.
29-year-old Repilov is a three-time world champion (2020, 2021), two-time silver and bronze medalist at world championships, multiple medalist at European championships, and a two-time World Cup winner.
Repilov has won stages of the World Cup in Sigulda twice (in 2017 and 2018).
