Her sentence was reduced to 4.5 years in a general regime.
After the transfer of the famous Russian fraudster Elena Blinovskaya to a women's general regime colony in the Vladimir region, reports emerged about the supposedly 'privileged' 10th squad with special conditions for selected inmates.
Information that the female inmates in this squad are allegedly only assigned to light types of work spread in some Telegram channels, sparking a new wave of discussions. However, this information was quickly refuted by sources familiar with the system from the inside, media outlets report.
A woman who previously served her sentence and shared a cell with Blinovskaya described the reality behind bars in detail. She assured that there are no privileged squads or cells — all inmates live under equal conditions. In particular, the 10th economic squad, where Elena was sent, is known for hard labor, not for leniencies.
Inmates there work tirelessly at night: 'They bake a huge amount of bread in hellish conditions.' The former cellmate expressed regret over such publications, noting that they distort the truth and downplay the hardships faced by incarcerated individuals.
Blinovskaya's transfer to the settlement of Golovino took place in a regular manner, without special measures. She is serving her sentence for tax evasion and money laundering. Initially, she was sentenced to five years with a fine of one million rubles, which was later reduced to 4.5 years. The court rejected a request for a deferral of the sentence until her youngest child turns 18. Lawyers continue to work on reducing the sentence through appeals and possible employment for crediting days. Earlier, there were even rumors that Elena might be released on parole before the New Year, but they were not confirmed.
In August, Elena's husband Alexey Blinovsky was injured in a road conflict in Moscow on Shabolovka Street. On his motorcycle, he hit the mirror of a car, after which the driver got out and attacked him. Alexey sustained serious injuries: a broken nose, head wounds, and multiple abrasions on his body.
Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene, and witnesses filmed the bloodied man with a bandage on his head. The accident added tension to the family circumstances against the backdrop of Elena's legal troubles.
In the summer, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation revealed details of Elena Blinovskaya's failed plan to leave Russia. Upon learning that a case had been initiated, she called a driver at night and outlined a route that no one knew about — exiting through Belarus with a subsequent flight from Minsk to Tashkent, in order to avoid border control at Moscow airports.
The arrest occurred on the approach to the border. A representative of the Investigative Committee noted that rumors of prior warning to Blinovskaya from law enforcement were not confirmed during the investigation.
