In Poland, the remains of a dead wild boar infected with the African swine fever (ASF) virus were found in the Łódź Voivodeship near the town of Piotrków Trybunalski, and the authorities do not rule out sabotage. This was reported by RMF24.

In the region where the remains were found, there are several pig farming operations. ASF is safe for humans but poses a threat to pigs.

"According to the Veterinary Inspection, everything indicates that the remains of the dead animal infected with the African swine fever virus were intentionally transported to the pig farming area, where ASF had not previously occurred," stated the Ministry of Agriculture.

Minister Stefan Krajewski stated that the authorities do not rule out sabotage.

"We do not exclude the possibility of sabotage, particularly from the east. We are protecting the Polish countryside and will not allow the deliberate spread of the virus. We are taking measures," he wrote on the social media platform X.

As reported by bb.lv, in September, 24,000 pigs infected with ASF were culled in Latvia. However, no sabotage was suspected at that time.
