Циничный мошенник фальсифицировал родную маму.

The scoundrel managed to swindle over 100,000 euros from the state.

When the mother of a nurse from the Italian town of Borgo Virgilio died in 2022, he did not report the incident to either the authorities or the local Civil Registry Office, as required by law. The enterprising son wrapped the body of 82-year-old Graziella Dall'Olio in several sheets and stuffed the resulting 'mummy' into two sleeping bags. He ultimately leaned this improvised sarcophagus against the wall of the laundry room located in the basement of the house. The purpose of this strange ritual was purely selfish — the man decided to continue receiving not only her substantial local pension of 3,000 euros but also income from a rented plot of land and property that could be claimed by other heirs. The annual total was a considerable sum — about 53,000 euros.

The fraudster's problems arose in 2025 when his mother's identification expired. Without a new document, the bank and authorities would block access to remote services, and the sweet life of the 'entrepreneur' would come to an end.

But the man did not despair. His plan was simple and audacious — to dress as a woman and obtain a new passport from the municipality. Before the local registry office employees, he presented himself in full glory: a short women's haircut, light makeup, a blouse with a 70s pattern, a pearl necklace, and vintage clip-on earrings. At first glance, he looked like a typical grandmother from the provinces. The first phase of the scam went, as they say, 'with flying colors.' They accepted his application and took his photo.

However, a few days later, a vigilant employee noticed that the woman in the image could not possibly be 85 years old, and upon closer inspection, she spotted a male Adam's apple on the 'pensioner.' Moreover, the skin, even for an elderly lady, seemed rather coarse to her. She immediately reported this to her superiors. A simple comparison of the photo of the 'new' signora Dall'Olio with the archived one completely dispelled any doubts that it was not her who was applying for the document.

As a result, last Wednesday, the mayor's office set a trap for the impersonator. He was asked to return to the municipality supposedly to correct an error. And the man showed up without a shadow of doubt — again in disguise. Thinking that no one could see him, he walked down the street with a brisk step: his arthritis seemed to have vanished. Only at the entrance to the building did the fraudster begin to limply limp demonstratively. He did not lose his composure even when the police arrested him in the civil registry hall — he fell to the floor and convulsed. When the arriving medics confirmed that he was fine, the fraudster sincerely and without a hint of remorse confessed to his deeds.

Now the authorities must sort out all the details of this horror movie come to life. Following a search of the suspect's home and an examination of the body, the carabinieri do not rule out that the old woman's death could have been violent.
