Russian national team lugers sent to pre-trial detention on fraud charges. This was reported by the unified press service of the courts of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia.
The Central District Court of Krasnoyarsk (Russia) has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention for one month against the titled Russian lugers Roman Repilov and Alexander Peryatyagin in a fraud case.
Repilov and Peryatyagin are accused of committing a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code — embezzling about 11 million budget rubles (120 thousand euros) intended for the purchase of sports sleds.
29-year-old Repilov is a three-time world champion (2020, 2021), a two-time silver and bronze medalist at world championships, a multiple medalist at European championships, a two-time World Cup holder, a nine-time winner and multiple medalist at World Cup stages, and a multiple champion of Russia.
Repilov has won World Cup stages in Sigulda twice (in 2017 and 2018).
33-year-old Peryatyagin is a silver medalist at the European championship and a participant in the Sochi Olympics.
