Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the investigation holds two Ukrainian citizens, collaborating with Russian special services, responsible for acts of sabotage on the Polish railway, reports RMF24.
During a speech in the Sejm, Tusk stated that the investigation has identified individuals believed to be the perpetrators of the recent sabotage on the railway.
Both suspects are citizens of Ukraine. They both entered Poland from Belarus and left for the same country through the Terespol border crossing after their actions – before the investigation established their identities.
One of the Ukrainians had already been convicted by a court in Lviv in May (the year is not specified) for sabotage activities in Ukraine. The other is from Donbas and previously worked in the prosecutor's office. Tusk said he would not publicly disclose more information as investigative actions are ongoing.
According to the Prime Minister, the services are currently convinced that the explosion of the railway near the village of Mika and the placement of objects on the railway infrastructure near the Pulawy station are acts of sabotage.
Prior to this, security structures in Poland stated that "special services from the east" were involved in the railway sabotage, although Russia was not named directly.
The section of railway between Warsaw and Lublin, where the sabotage occurred, has strategic significance for aiding Ukraine. There was also another incident on this stretch of track that has not yet been recognized as sabotage.
