The Israeli Foreign Ministry called Ankara's actions a "publicity stunt by the tyrant."

The Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office has issued arrest warrants for 37 Israeli politicians and military officials, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on charges of genocide and war crimes in the Gaza Strip, reports Daily Sabah.

The investigation concerns Israel's strikes on Gaza, which, according to Turkish sources, resulted in the deaths of over 68,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children.

The chairman of the Istanbul Bar Association, Yasin Şamlı, stated that Israel is responsible for "genocide, crimes against humanity, and violations of international agreements." Şamlı emphasized that such crimes have no statute of limitations and fall under the jurisdiction of Turkey's national courts.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar called Ankara's actions a "publicity stunt by the tyrant" Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey. The Israeli minister stated that the Turkish judicial system "has long become a tool for suppressing political opponents."

Earlier, the International Criminal Court also issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu, suspecting him of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza from October 2023 to May 2024. Israel described these measures as manifestations of anti-Semitism.

Israel launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip after October 7, 2023. At that time, Palestinian terrorist groups attacked southern Israel. As a result of the attack, more than a thousand people died, and over 250 were taken hostage and transported to Gaza. Some hostages were released as part of negotiations.

The last 20 individuals captured by jihadists were released on October 13, 2025, as a result of an agreement reached between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas, mediated by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Israel is accused of attacks on the civilian population of the Gaza Strip. Israeli authorities claim that the targets of the operation were jihadists. Israel also accuses Hamas and other groups of using civilians as human shields and placing military infrastructure in densely populated areas of Gaza.
