Cryptotrader Roman Novak and his wife Anna were found dead in the UAE a month after their disappearance, with suspects in the kidnapping already detained and awaiting extradition to St. Petersburg.
The couple, Roman and Anna Novak, were found murdered in the United Arab Emirates, reports Gazeta.Ru, citing the Telegram channel Baza.
The pair lost contact with relatives about a month ago when their phones were last detected in Cape Town, after which communication ceased.
During the investigation, police concluded that the couple was kidnapped by extortionists for ransom. Preliminary data suggests that when it became clear that no one would pay the money for their release, Novak and his wife were killed. Relatives sought police assistance immediately after their disappearance.
It should be noted that Roman Novak was suspected of large-scale embezzlement, involving more than $500 million raised from investors under the guise of business development. According to the investigation, Novak posed as a member of the board of directors of Telegram and a “friend of Pavel Durov.”
It is specified that citizens of Russia are involved in the kidnapping and murder; they have already been detained, and their extradition to St. Petersburg is planned for further investigation. The deceased couple left behind minor children.
