Tragic Traffic Accident Statistics: 91 People Have Died This Year, Including Six Children

As of October 9 this year, 91 people have died in traffic accidents in Latvia, including six children, the State Police reported to the LETA agency.

A total of 13,471 traffic accidents have been registered this year. The total number of injured is 2,982 people, including 480 minors.

2,719 people sustained minor injuries, while another 263 people suffered serious injuries.

Last year, during the same period, 13,552 traffic accidents were registered. 3,123 people were injured, of which 529 were minors. 2,880 people sustained minor injuries, and 243 suffered serious injuries.

Last year, during the same period, 85 people died on the roads, including seven minors.

As reported, the beginning of October was particularly tragic on the roads of Latvia. On October 1, near the Imanta railway station in Riga, two girls born in 2012 were struck and killed by a train while crossing a railway crossing on a rented electric moped.

On October 8, in the Tukums region, another child died as a result of an accident caused by a drunk motorcyclist.
