In connection with the upcoming match on Tuesday between the national teams of Latvia and England, Brivibas Square will be fenced off with protective barriers starting Monday, the State Police reported.
The police promise to closely monitor public order and safety to ensure that the Latvia – England match, as well as the gatherings of fans, take place without violence. Police officers will be on duty both in the city center and around the stadium.
The police claim they have a plan for maintaining public order and traffic safety. They will monitor fans both on the day of the match and the day before. Additionally, the police are also keeping an eye on the situation online, tracking events and relevant information.
The State Police is also carefully controlling the use of drones — law enforcement will have the ability not only to record unauthorized drone flights but also to forcibly land them and determine the operator's location.
By the way, on Tuesday, October 14, during the match, there will be a ban on drone flights in certain areas of the city.
The World Cup 2026 qualifying match between the national teams of Latvia and England will take place on Tuesday, October 14, at the Daugava Stadium. The start time is 21:45.
Let us remind you that the day before, the Latvian footballers failed to defeat a team from a country whose area corresponds to the territory of the city of Riga, and whose population is comparable to the number of residents in the city of Daugavpils. The Latvia-Andorra match ended in a draw – 2:2.
