As of July 1, all Latvian trucks must be equipped with a smart tachograph version V2, warns the Road Transport Administration.
The V2 device itself costs about €600–900 excluding VAT. However, a tachograph with installation and calibration in Latvia will cost between €1,700 and €2,200 per vehicle.
The State Enterprise Road Transport Administration reminds that as of July 1 of this year, Regulation (EU) 2020/1054 of the European Parliament and Council comes into force.
According to the document, vehicles used for international freight transport or cabotage with a maximum permissible weight exceeding 2.5 tons (including trailers or semi-trailers) must be equipped with a smart tachograph version V2.
Additionally, their drivers are required to keep records of working time and rest time.
