Latvian airline airBaltic introduces a new Economy MINI fare — a basic ticket option for passengers traveling only with a personal item.
The new fare is available for purchase from May 6 only through the airline's own sales channels — website, mobile app, and call center.
Economy MINI is designed for passengers who only need a minimal set of services during their trip. The fare includes one personal item sized up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm. This option, as the company notes, may be suitable for short business trips, weekend getaways, and other journeys where additional luggage is usually not required.
Passengers with an Economy MINI ticket pay only for the basic service. Additional options — such as carry-on luggage, checked baggage, or meals — can be added at the time of booking.
airBaltic states that with the introduction of Economy MINI, the company's fare structure is moving closer to a model that is already common in European aviation.
airBaltic's Commercial Director Thomas Ramdahl noted that the new fare complements the existing ticket structure and allows passengers to choose an option that better suits their trip. According to him, passengers traveling light will be able to get a more affordable price, while those who need additional services can add exactly what they require.
airBaltic will continue to offer five existing types of tickets, which include a cabin suitcase: three fares in economy class and two in business class. Economy MINI will become the sixth and cheapest fare option.
