The export volume of security and defense industry enterprises last year could have exceeded 500 million euros, said Elina Egle-Lochmele, chairwoman of the Latvian Federation of Security and Defense Industry ("DAIF Latvija"), in an interview for the program "900 seconds" on TV3.
"I really hope that we will exceed the half-billion threshold in exports," said Egle-Lochmele, adding that specific data on the performance of enterprises for 2025 will be available in May.
She also noted that one of the main tasks that should receive additional attention this year is related to the security of critical infrastructure.
"My little dream is that we create a competence center for critical infrastructure, where service providers and institutions that are critical infrastructure could come together and share experiences," said Egle-Lochmele.
According to federation data, the total turnover of members of "DAIF Latvija" in 2024 was 1.94 billion euros, which is 3% less than in 2023, and the profit of the federation's companies decreased by 30% to 234.8 million euros. About 11,900 people were employed in "DAIF Latvija" enterprises in 2024.
"DAIF Latvija" was established in the spring of 2013. The federation is an organization representing the security and defense industry, as well as the research sector at the national and international levels. "DAIF Latvija" unites about 150 enterprises, educational and research institutions, as well as associate members.
