Первый полет Overture ожидается уже в 2026 году.

To date, Boom Supersonic's order book includes about 70 aircraft.

American airline United Airlines has announced a major order for the promising supersonic aircraft Overture from Boom Supersonic.

This involves a contract for 15 aircraft with the option to expand by another 35 units — a deal that could bring commercial supersonic flights back nearly 25 years after the end of the Tu-144 and Concorde era.

The purchase will be realized only after the aircraft confirms compliance with all safety, operational, and environmental standards. The contract value is not disclosed; however, it is known that the terms include protection of the customer's interests.

The Overture project is positioned not just as a revival of supersonic passenger aviation, but also as a step towards a "green" future for the industry. The aircraft is initially being developed for the use of 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which should ensure a zero carbon footprint from the start of operations.

According to plans, the first flight of Overture is expected in 2026, and the launch of commercial flights could take place by 2029. A key task remains certification, including approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). At the same time, it is already noticeable that American regulators are proactively creating favorable conditions for the implementation of such projects.

United Airlines and Boom Supersonic also intend to collaborate on the development of sustainable aviation fuel production, as current volumes are still insufficient for widespread use.

To date, Boom Supersonic's order book includes about 70 aircraft, including options. However, the question of economic feasibility remains open: it was precisely the high operating costs that became one of the reasons for the discontinuation of the Concorde.
