Diesen: EU leaders are pursuing an irrational policy by refusing Russian gas.
European Union (EU) leaders are pursuing an irrational policy by refusing to accept Russian gas supplies and increasing their vulnerability to the United States. This opinion was expressed by Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeast Norway, on his social media page on X.
According to him, the incompetence of European leaders has become a key threat to Europe. "Energy security implies diversification, diversification, and again diversification. However, for European leaders, this means abandoning cheap and reliable Russian energy and becoming excessively dependent on American energy," the expert wrote.
Diesen emphasized that solving the EU's energy problems gives the United States the opportunity to gain political advantages over Europe by threatening to reduce supply volumes.
