During Financial Literacy Week, which will take place in Latvia from March 16 to 22, the State Employment Agency (SEA) offers residents a free online course "My Money Today and Tomorrow. Financial Literacy," available in the section "E-apmācība" of the SEA's CV and Job portal, LETA reports.
As reported to LETA by the State Employment Agency (SEA), the course allows anyone interested to learn or improve their knowledge of personal finance planning, the tax system, and the principles of social insurance. The educational materials are available online, so they can be studied at any convenient time and place using a computer or smart device with internet access.
The online course consists of four parts — "Money and Transactions," "Personal Finance Planning," "Financial and Economic Environment. Taxes," and "State and Social Budget, Functioning of the Social Insurance System in the Country." The educational content includes theoretical explanations, audio and video materials, dialogue simulations, as well as self-assessment tasks.
The materials also cover various types of income, means of authenticating internet banking, and the basic principles of personal budget planning. Additional knowledge can be gained through the link to the Bank of Latvia's "Money School," where information on savings, tax benefits, financial security issues, and risks of fraud in the digital environment is available.
The course also explains the significance of public and private pension levels to help better understand how to make informed financial decisions in the long term.
The total duration of the training is five academic hours. At the end of the course, participants must complete a knowledge assessment test. To start the training, it is necessary to log in through the portal "latvija.gov.lv." The SEA also warns that the online training section will not be accessible if a virtual private network (VPN) connection is activated on the device.
As reported, the Financial Literacy Week, part of the international initiative "Global Money Week," will take place in Latvia for the 13th time this year. This year's theme will focus on youth and their ability to plan and manage personal finances to live more comfortably in later stages of life.
